Senior Rust Engineer, Runtime
We are building a Rust runtime that executes untrusted workloads at the edge with cold starts under a millisecond. This role owns the scheduler and the memory model.
You will spend your time on:
- The work-stealing scheduler and its fairness guarantees under adversarial load
- Sandbox boundaries: what a tenant can observe about another tenant, and proving they cannot
- The allocator, and the long tail of latency that hides in it
What we expect. Several years writing systems software in Rust or C++, comfort with unsafe and with the discipline of justifying every use of it in writing, and enough curiosity about performance to be annoyed by a p99 you cannot explain.
How we work. Two-week cycles, written proposals before large changes, no daily standup. Everyone is remote and we cover four hours of overlap with CET.
About Osmium Labs
A systems shop building a Rust runtime for edge workloads. Small, senior, and deliberately slow-growing — we would rather ship one correct thing than five approximate ones.
